I would have really liked to start my “PID” section with another message, but maybe it is on the other hand the right “ignition”. As some of (mostly german) news readers have realized maybe, one of Germany`s long years in porn director icons has passed away totally unexpectedly last weekend: Harry S. Morgan!
He made himself to a trademark in it s very own way, gave his videolines their own “Harry s. Morgan” specific spirit, and , as you can frankly say, he “invented” the report format for porn movies in it s most unique way. His german couple report “Happy Video Privat” (Videorama), where he visited with his “trademark” cap and microphone normal couples at their homes, asked them about their private sexlife and recorded them while they had sex, became a worldwide success and was a kind of “blueprint” for all following Porn report formats.
That he was one of the last well structured porn movie directors of the “old school” in Germany I can hardly confirm, because I have been working for almost 5 years on his side. First as production assistant, later as his production manager I worked for him in over 130 movies between 1995 and 1999. To that time you could call most of the productions still “movies”, because each movie (exept the reports) had a storyplot. Some smaller, some bigger and even with dialogues. Dubbing of the movies was still popular at that time. As I am writing this here, I think, I am talking already about a time like the black and white movies, but it is only 16 years ago. 
For him the storyplot was always very important and therefore I could learn from him a lot about structured work on production preparations by scripts as well. He surprised us always with some new and funny storyideas, and nowadays I can truly say, that the time with him, where we produced so many different movies in many different countries/cities and with that unique team, that he formed, it was the most unique and remarable period in my production history.
In the german news headlines they combine his name now always first with the ex pornstar Gina Wild, whom he made finally popular with his films. But my personal favourite Harry “inventions” are and will be always his first “Young Debutants” movies and “Die Anmacherinnen” (Videorama), on which I could work with him. With “Young Debutants” he developed his couple report further to a sexy Girls report, where, after the specific Harry styled interview, the girls made scene with a hungry male actor. Seems nowadays like “old coffee”, but in 1995/96 it was still an interesting thematic for the market. This report has led us to various countries, where we shot within 1996 also as first german production in the (at that time mobile phone free) czech republic.
You can still watch these movies today and you will smell the certain freshness and naturality of these girls, that he always looked for to find. I just remember as an example for the daughter of the hungarian ambassador (as our agent told us) to that time in one of the productions. She had cancelled afternoon school, to do a scene for Harry. All he needed for it was a green grassfield in the sun outside of Budapest, a blanket and an actor…camera rollin, action….REAL action and passion…fresh and purely natural. Harry Style.
There are tons of stories, that are poppin out in my mind now these days, but that would be better for a book than for a Blog . For all the people, that worked closely with him, it is still finally a big shock, that he has left so suddenly. I am very happy, that I could join a very good time with him in a lot of productions, probably the last REAL good period, that this porn business had to offer. Will be always in a special part of my memories.
He gave me the oppurtunity, to learn at him many things, which has within built a solid part of the background, that I have needed later for my own production work, and which I have never forgot.
Where ever you are now, we will not forget you and your spirit will forever be alive in your movies, that will flicker still over many Monitors.
